D U G A L D   F E R G U S O N is a gay British/ New Zealand artist working on solo, collaborative and commissioned pieces in both fine arts and performance. His painting exhibits the strong influence of the South Pacific shown through his treatment of light and colour whilst aspects of design and bold mark making are often applied springing out of his inspiration from Maori Art. His visual arts practice currently explores male sexual-social hegemony appropriating extreme ideals of masculinity/ sports figures and obliterating their figures and actions with hyper ‘domestic’ imagery. Influences include Greek sexual imagery, David Hockney, rugby, football, Robert Mapplethorpe, Derek Jarman, Naum Gabo, Patrick Heron, David Cerny and Saffronn Te Ratana. He regularly exhibits work around Norfolk. Dugald is also co-founder of immersive theatre company Living Structures working as Producer, Performer, Devisor and Set Builder.
